[N178]New England Winter Vacation
by Shankar Sai, Sha
Whatever may be the majority opinion about summer vacation, but for me winter holidays are the most energizing period of the calendar. All said and done, for many people, summer time is for relaxation. All the work load notwithstanding, you can do so much more in off time. You have plenty of choices from swimming, hiking, camping,to several sports. Whereas the climate is all the while terrible in the winter days . It is cold, dark, wet, and miserable. Therefor winter holiday allows yo to escape from all this and more.In other words it is the ideal way to make the winter endurable.

A lot of people would opt for a type of winter vacation of their choice. And these days, warm destinations seem to be the the most sought after flavour for winter holidays. Places like Hawaii and Maui are known as a tropical paradise and provide you an appropriate escape from winter blues. skiing is also fast catching up as a winter destination. It is a totally different approach and in sharp contrast to a common view of treating the winter holidays as an opportunity to get away from the cold, dark weather. Visiting a ski lodge can be great recreation, just imagine being able to revel and unwind by the fire with a warm cup of cocoa in the evening.

It is great idea for a change over. It would be a great idea to alternate between these different themes for winter holidays in different years. It is a surefire way to avoid a pattern and a routine. One year, you can think about Hawaii. You can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, sailing, hiking along the miles and miles of oceanfront beaches, not to mention about a chance to swim with sea turtles! Next year, you can plan for an Austrian ski lodge for your winter holidays. Even if you miss the tropical vacation there, you can prepare for the adventure travel. After all, skiing is such a thrilling experience!

If you can manage to adjust your schedule, it is better to enjoy your winter holiday at a time when there are less number of traveling people . Quite obviously, all travel related expenses from airline tickets, hotel charges, to other costs of holiday travel, are at very low levels during off-season. You can most certainly look forward to a cheap holiday travel to uncrowded destinations, provided you can hold back until Christmas and New Year is over.

Nail polish has become a fairly commonplace site, not just on the fingernails, but also on the toenails. Some women I meet go for weekly pedicures, which ends up being the highlight of the week. In extreme cases, some women even wear acrylic nails and tips on their toenails.

Ladies, I am not here to tell you to not wear polish on your toenails. I've tried, I've lost, I've given up. I do understand that when a woman wears an open toed shoe or sandal, they enjoy having polish on their nails. I get it!

But now it's winter. It's chilly here in Houston (for Houston) and outside of Houston it's downright cold. Women are wearing closed shoes and boots, but guess what? You keep putting polish on your nails! So as a man I have to wonder...if no one is seeing the toenails, why continue to polish them?

Most nail polishes contain formaldehyde, a carcinogenic chemical best known for preserving cadavers. The formaldehyde dries and damages the toenail. Polish remover has acetone, which is popular for removing adhesives and paint. Also damaging for the nail. Fungus can infect toenails that are damaged by polish. When your polish comes off you likely noticed that your nails are dry, white, and flaky. In fact, people often come into the office concerned that it's fungus. No, it's just damage from the polish.

It's time to take a vacation. When you wear closed shoes, try not wearing polish to give your nails a chance to recover. That's right...no polish. What's that? Just a base coat? Well clear polish is still just as damaging. It's not the color that does it, it's the polish itself. No matter what your pedicurist tells you, whether it contains essential vitamins, whether it's hypoallergenic, it doesn't matter...it's still nail polish.

Well is there any good polish? The answer is yes. Some polishes sold in stores do not contain formaldehyde. By most reports, they are inferior. Some nail polishes are considered "healthy" because they contain vitamins, tea tree oil, and other natural ingredients. These polishes are healthier for the nails and have some properties to resist or treat fungus. Even so, no polish is still better than this.

If you're on vacation, go crazy, wear polish for the week if you're wearing shoes that will show your toes. Get your nails ready for the next sandal season by treating them right.
