[O314]Orchard Credit Card Pay
by Charles Essmeier, Cha
The incredible amount of revolving debt in the U.S. affects everyone, but what solutions are available? The total credit card debt amounts to more than seven thousand dollars for every man, woman and child in the country. Recent figures from the Federal Reserve, the agency that keeps track of money in this country, shows that Americans owe over two trillion dollars on their bank cards.

Here are a few tips that should help you with regards to the management of your bills:

Assess your bills - Make a list of every credit card or other obligation that you have. List your debts according to the interest rate, from high to low, and make a note of how much you owe on each one. Knowing the interest rate on your debts is crucial; it represents the cost of continuing to owe money to that that particular lender. You want to pay down your debts by clearing off the loan with the steepest rate first. Pay as much as you can to the highest interest lender and make the minimum payments to the others. When the debt with the highest interest is gone, repeat with the next one on the list.

Negotiate lower rates - Call your lenders or creditors and ask them if they will lower your interest rate. It is costly for credit card companies to attract new customers; they would rather keep you than try to replace you. Many charge card companies will agree to lower interest rates for their customers who are in good standing. If they agree to lower your interest rate, you will save a bit of money. Make sure to keep paying promptly, or they may raise your rate again.

Pay cash when you can - It's easy to use a bank card; much simpler than paying cash. Get in the habit of writing a personal check or cash instead of reflexively pulling out the credit card. Consider not spending money at all if you can't afford it. Remember, a credit card purchase is a loan, not a gift. Use your bank cards responsibly, and if you cannot do that, don't use them at all.

A large part of the battle for financial freedom is becoming organized. In order to get your finances in order, you need to organize them, reduce expenses when possible and make sure that you stay out of trouble in the future. Financial independence is tough work, but well worth it.
