Soon it will be spring again and time for us to cleanse our bodies and especially our livers. At this time of year it is good to give your liver a boost to prepare it for the work it will have to carry out. There is one way in which you can cleanse your liver in readiness and that is by using herbal teas, not only are they easy to use but the provide a powerful punch for reawakening your liver.
One such herbal formulation is called “Puri-Tea" provided by a herbalist in Colorado by the name of Brigitte Mars it contains the following ingredients:-
1 Part Fennel Seed and 1 Part Fenugreek 1 Part Flax Seed and ¼ Par Liquorice Root ¼ Part Burdock and 1 Part Peppermint
A further herbal combination which is also good for cleansing and detoxifying the liver is as follows:
Yellow Dock Root, Dandelion Root, Liquorice Root Red Sage, Sarsaparilla, Hyssop Pau de Arco, Milk Thistle Seed, Parsley Leaf
However, there are also other things that you can do to help your liver as well. First of all purchase some extract of Milk Thistle Seed and then when you make one of the teas that I have listed above add 2-3 full droppers of the extract to it.
Below I also provide information on what effects the herbs used above in the teas have on the body.
Fennel Seeds help with white cell formation in the blood and also keep your acid and alkaline levels balanced. Peppermint is good to use as a body cleanser and toner, whilst Red Clover is suitable for blood purification. Liquorice is ideal for stimulating the adrenal glands in the body and Cleavers is an anti-infection herb. Then we have Dandelion which is good for cleansing and strengthening the body. Next comes Oregon Grape Root which is also good for cleansing and building the body, whilst Burdock Root is good for use purifying the body’s system. As for Nettles they are rich in minerals which all bodies need. Then there is Fenugreek which helps to eliminate mucus and toxins from the body, whilst the Yellow Dock Root is good not only as a cleansing agent for the body but helps with the white cell formation. Then finally we have Milk Thistle Seed which is also good for cleansing the body and building its strength.
However, if you do not wish to make these teas yourself you can go to any Health Food Store and they will have them ready prepared. But a way I would recommend to prepare your own it buy ½ to 1 oz of each herb that you will be using then in a jar place a tablespoon of each one and shake the contents up and its ready to use.
When you wish to prepare a cup of this tea firstly boil 1 & ¼ cups of distilled water in a glass container, then add a heaped tablespoon of the mixture, allow it to sit for about 10-15 minutes then strain and drink once it has cooled sufficiently. You should drink a cup of this mixture before your breakfast and before your meal in the evening for about 1 to 2 months.
