It is difficult to say whether computer viruses and spyware are a bigger threat to our computer's health than registry corruption is in today's computing world. Definitely, there was a time there was no question it was the computer virus that was our biggest concern, but now things are changing.
Registry corruption is a very real concern of computer owners today. The huge new operating systems, Windows XP and Vista are affected by registry corruption in ways Windows 95 and 98 could not be. So, now that it seems we are able to control the viruses and spyware better than used to be able to, it is registry corruption that seems to making headway toward its goal of destroying our computers.
How and why do we concern ourselves with registry corruption and what will happen to our computers if we don't? These are the topics we will talk about in this article.
There is Always Something Entering Our Registries
Whenever we install a new program or driver on our computer, we add many, maybe even hundreds of thousands of entries to our registry. When this program or driver is deleted or even upgraded, these entries, though they are no longer used, still remain in place in the registry. These entries are a type of registry corruption because they make the operating system work harder to get where it needs to go.
Temporary computer files are added to our registries by the boatload when we surf the Internet. Unfortunately, these files are left in the registry when we are through surfing and then they become registry corruption because they give the operating system directions to nowhere.
Believe it or not viruses, spyware, adware and all the other kinds of malware, though they are unwanted programs, are viable software programs so, when they are removed, they too leave registry corruption behind.
It has to be noted that as time goes on, this registry corruption causes the computer to act up. The computer will probably slow down at first. More corruption will cause the computer to slow down and after the corruption gets even more plentiful the computer is likely to suffer crashes.
What To Do About Registry Corruption
The problem is our software and drivers and everything else we deal with in today's computing world are much, much larger than they were just a few years ago. So, it stands to reason that registry corruption is a much, much bigger concern than it was a few years ago, as well. So, a lot of corruption in an operating system will definitely cause a lot of problems!
It is easy enough to take care of registry corruption, just install a good registry cleaner on your computer and run it periodically. The best time to run a registry cleaner is after spyware has been removed. You do have a good spyware cleaner installed on your computer; don't you?
