Different Skin Problems You Can Get With Poorly Maintained Pool Pebble

It is fun go swimming because it is normally refreshing. There is even more fun in swimming when you do it in the best locations especially when the place is very much pleasing to the eyes. You can have one in your own backyard but it will all depend on what kind of pool you want. Nowadays, pools are added in homes as part of their aesthetic improvements. This is an added bonus for those who are avid swimmers. You can have the best of recreation in your homes when you have swimming pools around.

However, as much as design and themes are important for your pools, you also have to make safety a number one consideration. This is because you do not want to incur possible illnesses from contaminated water. Imagine this: your pool can have the best of everything. It is a world-class looking pool pebble but poorly maintained. To have the best pool you really need to invest much on its maintenance. If not then you are most likely to harbor pathogens in your pool causing various skin problems.

• Bacillary Dysentery- This is caused by shigella transmitted through oral ingestion of contaminated water. A common sign of this infection results to bloody stools and presence of mucus in them.

• Dermatitis- It is an inflammation in the skin. Rashes and itchiness are its common manifestation. Sometimes it can lead to presence of pustules or bumps on all parts of the body.

• Swimmers Ear or Otitis Externa- It is a common disease caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa that usually occurs during summertime. Common signs and symptoms start as ear pain with swelling and sometimes lead to presence of pus discharges. However, this is not exclusive to swimming but the incidence is highly attributed from it.

• Swimmers Itch or Cercarial dermatitis- Body parts that have been submerged in the water incurs pinpoint rashes that occur within 48 hours up to 7 days. It can be very itchy. They are usually caused by trematode parasites usually using snails as their host. Sometimes their hosts can be fowls (bird family) and they are introduced in the water through bird droppings.

• Hepatitis A- Believe it or not this viral infection can be present in pools that are constantly in use yet poorly maintained. It may start as asymptomatic but then eventually you will have the feeling of tiredness, loss of appetite and as it progresses, jaundice (yellowish discoloration of the skin) appears.

These are just some of the most common diseases that people do encounter. Swimmers can acquire many other diseases that have not been mentioned above. Therefore, this just concludes that taking care of your pool pebble is extremely important. These diseases can progress to life threatening situations when it hits your kids. Adults have better endurance to illnesses but for the very young, immune system might not respond well. To protect your kids and your family, ensure you swimming pools are properly treated, filtered and sanitized.
