There has been quite a bit of speculation about the effectiveness of teeth whitening products over the last little while. Some critics complain that they have tried several different types and they just aren't getting great results. Then there are others who rave at how great their teeth look. They can really notice the whitening effects.

So who's right? Actually both groups are, for some people it works great and for others it's not so effective. The whole reason being is because first of all everybody's teeth are different just like everybody has their own unique anatomy. Then there are various degrees of discoloration that has to be treated. Finally there are varying degrees of whiteness depending on the individual. For example some individuals have a natural off white shade that no amount of whitening products will change.

Another issue that should be addressed is that some teeth whitening products are better than others. Of course there is going to be competition amongst the manufacturers and there will be constant improvement amongst the products.

So based on the fact that people differ, then again what one person recommends just might not be the answer for another.

There are many different brands of teeth whitening products as we have mentioned, but they also come in a variety of forms such as pastes or gels for example. Some come in the forms of strips, which are applied firmly across the teeth, then left on for the night while the person sleeps. Some can be used more often than others, and some need to be used for longer periods of time to get good effects.

Why do people make such a big deal of having white teeth? Usually because of the psychological effects that the teeth have on a person. Most often people with bad teeth or discolored teeth are embarrassed and have a low self esteem. This varies in severity but those that are deeply affected don't even like to talk so their teeth show. While others are fine talking but hesitate to smile.

It really is wonderful to see a person like this experience significant whitening in their teeth and then watch their confidence build. There smiles are beautiful because not only are they much whiter but they are genuine because the person feels good about themselves.

The prices can vary as well when it comes to the various products as well. Just because they are the most expensive doesn't necessarily mean they are the best. There are some rather inexpensive ones that are very good. Again it partly comes down to the individual and what works for them.

If the first brand doesn't work well then you may want to consider trying another product and maybe in another form as well. If the second or third one doesn't work then ask your dentist to suggest one, or perhaps decide to have your treatments done at his office.

Then just do home maintenance once you have reached your desired or optimum results.
