Sometimes bosses might change if they feel their job is in jeopardy.

There are plenty of good tactics out there... do some research, I bet you can find something fun that you will not feel guilty about afterwards. Always remember, revenge is a dish best served cold! And, actually, you may just enjoy it.

The last thing you need is to be given a bad reference - it can ruin your career. Of course, if you are not on good terms with your boss right now, you may not get the best reference in the world, but that will be a whole lot better then getting a negative reference. At least if you stay on good terms with your boss, they will either give you a decent reference, or not comment at all.
