It was a painting kit that helped out people draw paintings that a great artist made. I had heard about it and seen it much before, but then that day, I really thought about it.
Was it fair? Was it right by any means, to do something like that? Most of the great painters, never really wanted their paintings to be even sold, but that was done without much thought, and then people began to replicate them and that was justified too. And now the kit.
Why do I have complaints about this?
Well, first of all I think the artist should be flattered that something like this is done, and the usual propagation blah blah comes into play as well. But I think it's not really fair because:
1. It's one thing to look at something and trying to replicate it because you feel the need to do it and another when you make people do it.
2. I think it's not right when you monetize the whole copy cat business.
3. I feel that even if the artist should feel flattered, it's a matter of not respecting him as well because he never desired commercialization to be associated with his work of art.
4. The artist has made the paintings with great precaution, and also applying subtle inner meanings, which in this scenario would not be present. It's like invading his private space.
5. Everyone has the freedom to draw, anyone can be part of it. But then, don't you feel that Art like anything else should not be forced upon someone?
Well, this trend would go on and there would be no stopping it, people claim that it's a nice way of bringing the artists close to the masses. But I feel this is simply a novel way of giving away his soul. Peace
