Graduate School For Teaching
Vikram Kuamr
In today's world of gadgets and gizmos, China has emerged to be a key player cornering a huge chunk of the electronics and software market. It has emerged as a giant comglomrate in the 21st century which has contacts all over the world. Chinese are amongst one of the most intelligent people of our times. Their technical know how is beyond compare.
The huge work force available in China has made the country a favorite amongst the western nations which outsource a major chunk of their work to the Chinese work force. However, communication is still a problem between the Chinese and the rest of the world. Although highly intelligent there are not many Chinese people who speak even passable English. With China emerging as an electronics and technical hub, it has now become imperative that the rest of the world tries to bridge the communication gap by learning Chinese.
Chinese schools established around the world are working towards this goal of teaching Chinese globally. Chinese schools also teach Chinese languages and dialects to the children from china who have immigrated to the western countries. Chinese children born and brought up in America, Canada or any other western country in the world can now remain in touch with their ancestry due to the presence of Chinese schools. Generally these schools are attended by children after their regular schools or during weekends.
Chinese schools are also great social centers allowing Chinese people to gather together in a foreign land. Their ancestral culture is also taught in these schools. The fact that most of the Chinese immigrants to western nations are still able to read and write in Chinese is credited to the presence of these Chinese schools.
Chinese schools help the Chinese parents in keeping a part of china still alive in their children. Immigrant parents are generally terrified of the fact that their children might know nothing of their mother land and might grow to not care about it either. Chinese schools ensure that this can be avoided amongst the immigrants and hence is very popular amongst Chinese parents. Parents love to see thir children playing Chinese games, conversing in the local language to others and basically imbibing a little of their traditional culture.
Chinese schools also help in bridgng the gap between non Chinese and Chinese entities. It is not an easy language to learn, but thanks to these schools it is now being learned by several westerners, thereby eradicating the language barriers. Chinese schools have contributed immensely to creating an awareness about the language and its culture. These schools teach the language in a fun way which does not allow it to become a drag. Chinese can be learnt with very little effort and within a short time all thanks to Chinese schools.
