How To Install Wall
Derek Rogers
Wall safes are great for securely storing your valuables such as; money, jewellery and critical documents while saving room space at the same time. However, wall safes aren't popular choices by consumers because some think of the installation procedure as a difficult one and that professional help is needed. With the space-saving benefits that wall safes have compared to other safes, don't let that discourage you. In fact, it is possible to install these wall safes yourself if you do a little bit of decision making and following a few steps.
First of all, you need to decide what size and style you want your safe to be. It can be a daunting process, but can be done by looking for suitable locations to install the safe. When choosing for a location, make sure that no wires or pipes are within the walls so you can cut through. Keep in mind with the thickness of the safe as it can stick out through the other side of the wall. Having the rare of the safe in a closet or pantry is a good strategy.
The safe should come with a template for you to trace for cutting. You will need a carpenter's level to check if it's really level. Once you confirmed that it's level, you can proceed to tacking the template onto the wall firmly and trace around the edges using a pencil.
Hammer a nail into the centre of the wall section so it can be pulled after cutting. After that, make sure that there are no pipes or wires within by cutting a small hole and feeling around the wall. Start cutting from the bottom leading to the sides and finally the top portion. Be careful not to cut too deep to the other side of the wall. Use the nail you hammered in the centre earlier to pull the wall piece out.
You should have a clean cut based on the template you used and should be ready for installation of the wall safe. Try placing it inside and make sure it is a comfortable and tight fit. If there is some extra space due to cutting inaccuracies, you can make up for it by nailing some shims to the studs to make it sturdy and secure. Finally, from inside the safe, drill some holes in the wall studs so you can apply the 2-inch screws to finalize the installation process.
From there, you can start testing your newly installed safe and setting any security parameters needed for operation. The overall process isn't all that hard and the main difficulty lies on deciding the type of safe for your wall and sawing the wall piece off. If you feel you cannot do that yourself, you can always ask a friend to do it or pay a professional to have it installed safely. All the efforts of installing wall safes are worth it because you get all the benefits of a regular safe without taking up any valuable space in your room.
