How To Control Frames In Hypnosis
Andy Bloom
By taking control of the frames of various interactions, you are for all intents and purposes taking control of the interactions themselves. There are several different ways to control and manipulate frames. There are four main aspects to working with frames; to preframe, maintain your frame, deframe, and reframe. The two that are the most important and powerful to your conversational hypnosis are preframing and maintaining your frame.
Choose maintaining your frame as your first option to exercise. To do so you will have to arm yourself with non-reaction. This means to act as if the frame that your hypnotic subject believes just doesn't exist, and this will cause them to doubt their own frame, and place more value on yours.
By not taking into consideration their frame will only enforce your approach and create heightened insecurities in their own frame.
Preframing takes a bit more calculation and thought than maintaining your frame. If you can imply and assume then many times your frame will be taken at your word as the unconscious usually registers assumptions and implications as truth.
Next step in framing is the reframe. Now it's time to shed positive light on a frame that was previously viewed as negative by your subject. A context reframe is when you rearrange the context that the frame is in.
The final way in which you will control and manipulate frames is by deframing. This is the act of turning the tables on the person who is objecting to your frame. All you have to do is switch roles, and become the challenger. If a challenge is raised to your frame, then instead of trying to explain it, you simply challenge the frame the subject is in.
Now the only thing to be aware of in deframing is to maintain a positive or light attitude in that you can easily come off as aggressive or negative in other ways, this will only cause your subject to distrust and feel uncomfortable with you.
