It is only natural that after a while you get tired of some of the things you own and start to believe that they take up too much space in your home. You might consider selling them, but when you start to think about a garage sale and organizing it, you give up the idea and simply decide to throw those things away.
This is a shame and not only do you have nothing to gain, but you actually might be throwing away something that another person would like. Maybe that piece of clothing or that DVD is not to your liking anymore, but there is a big change somebody else on the other side of the world would actually ?die ? for it. So, here is an idea: why not swap what you have for something else?
If you come to think of it better it is not a good, but a great idea. Imagine how great it would be to exchange your stamps, your baseball cards or other sports cards instead of throwing them away. Maybe you are not interested in them anymore but somebody else surely is. Binning them would get you nothing, but swapping them means that you can take another item for free, because you wanted to throw those collectables in the first place.
Ok, so let us say that you were not going to throw them away, you were going to find a buyer and sell them to get that new phone you saw on the market or that new camera or computer you have longing for. First, you have to find a buyer, then get your money, then go to the store and finally buy what you wanted. There is the possibility of not finding what you were looking for, and so the struggle starts all over again. Search store after store, ask your friends if they know somebody who sells the things you want. It is tiring and in the end you might not even find what you were looking for. But if you barter, you know from the start you give your watch or your jewelry for some antiques you were longing for. You skip all the annoying steps where you have to find a buyer and run from store to store. You just trade your old thing for the one you set your heart on a long time ago. Isn't this fun, easy and a lot quicker?
However, you might be inclined to believe that you surely are not going to find a person on the Internet who wants to swap his/ her entertainment memorabilia or movies for some ?junk ? you have lying around. You would be surprised! Maybe that old doll, toy or teddy bear that you won means nothing to you anymore, but for somebody else it could mean a great joy.
Many people believe that the old things that they have lying around are useless, when they could actually mean gold, especially if you have your heart set on some pottery that it is very hard to find or it is too old to exist on the marketplace. Barter what you have and you will have the most fun, just by standing in front of your computer. You get those things you always wanted but somehow you got to the store two minutes too late. And I forgot to tell you that it's free. There is no charge whatsoever, you just have to register!
