Typing Tutor For Dummies
Jill Shu
It is obvious that people like to use computers to do whatever they want. It's a convenient and productive way to perform a variety of tasks. But if you are new to computers, and don't know how to use them. Especially, you do not know how to input characters into computers. Then you must learn to interact with computers first.
Nowadays, PC users have enjoyed many different text entry methods to interact with computers. Working with a stylus and a touchscreen is a totally natural way to interact with a computer; and it's convenient and productive to use keyboard and mouse input; and a method of getting a lot of text into the computer fast is using speech recognition. Which one do you like to use?
Ideally, I choose to use keyboard and mouse input. Here is one simple reason for my choice. Despite the other two input methods are ideal, there is still one I don't approve of. That's it is not fast to interact with computers by using the other two methods when I happen to need the fast input. Using the touchscreen, I find the stylus moving too slow; using speech recognition, there are some special characters not to be recognized, and more, if I speak too fast, it can't catch up with my speed.
And then, I decide to learn to type with the keyboard. At first, I need a good typing tutor. There are a lot of typing tutors when I search them on the internet. For trying more, I am deeply impressed by GS Typing Tutor. There is a new user wizard built in the instruction. It's very useful for me as a beginner.
When creating a new user for entering the typing tutor, the user-friendly feature appears as "New User Wizard". Following the wizard, you can step by step create the account:
First, set up your objective. For a beginner, you should consider a realistic target. Too high or too low target is not good for a beginner. A good new is GS Typing Tutor has already set up a base level with 30 WPM (words per minute). Alternatively, you can customize your own objective by choosing the "Customize" option, such as customizing a lower objective for 20 WPM, or a higher objective for 40 WPM.
Then, choose a suitable keyboard layout. For two-hand typing course, there are 30 keyboard layouts available, including English US, French, Irish, Italian, Swedish, and so on. Based on the language you use, you select appropriate one.
And then, decide the typing text size and every text line length. It's not good for beginners to practise too long text in a lesson. You will be tired and frustrated for the long time practice. Once you loose confidence to learn typing, you can not typing well.
Finally, you can change the typing tutor appearance relying on your favorite. By dragging on the slider and moving the mouse, you adjust the color you like. Conveniently, you could choose the color in the option "Present Style". Here, there are many styles available.
With the new user wizard, you can easy set up a realistic goal. Now you can begin to learn to type. Without doubt, you don't need more time, you can quickly learn to type with GS Typing Tutor, just like me. Find it at http://www.typingstar.com/
