There are a million ways that we use water each and every single day. We drink it, we bathe in it, we wash our clothing with it, and occasionally our pets. Most of us bring it into our homes through pipes, and in those cute little bottles. There is water in our sinks, our toilets, hot water heaters and washing machines. When things are working correctly, we pay little attention to it but if a pipe breaks or a roof leaks, water becomes all that we can think of.

Water removal processes will vary in difficulty and in price according to how much water there is to be removed, and exactly what the source is. If it's alot of flood water, the job is best left to professionals who are trained and equipped to deal with the potential dangers and hazards involved with the flood water removal.

A water removal company will assess the damage for you, as well as document any other damage that they uncover as they do the work, Some insurance companies will insist that all water removal be done by a professional, certified company, but that is not always the case. The more obvious damage that there is, the more likely that the water will have caused more hidden damage as well. If there is any potential at all structural damage, then leave the water removal to the experts.

If the cause is from a faulty washing machine or other appliance, first deal with some safety: Make sure that the broken machine is unplugged before dealing with the water removal. If you can find one, a water "snake" is a handy thing to have around- they look just like a tube made of material and will hold up to four times their own weight in water. Lay the water snake down in front of the washing machine and allow it to start absorbing the water. If you want to speed the removal process up a bit, you can mop from the other side of the snake, catching the water that it misses. Make sure that you dry the floor as quickly and as thoroughly as possible before the water seeps beneath your floor and causes warping.

Water removal in a carpeted area can be a bit more tricky and may eventually end up being more costly. Once a carpets backing or padding is saturated it's usually best to remove it because the potential for mold growth goes way up.

The possibility of the floor warping is also a big concern. Since it lies under a soaked carpet that water just has no place to go and will lay there causing bigger and bigger damages.
