Writing your ebook is the same way. You must create it word by word, until you have that last word done. The first thing to do is get organized. There are a few steps you need take before you begin.
First, get at least an idea of title for your ebook. Write down a few names until one sounds right for you. Having a title helps you focus your writing on the topic of the ebook. You may also want to have a subtitle. Aim for clarity and clear understanding in your titles.
Outline
The next step is to write out a basic outline detailing exactly what issue you are discussing and how your book will help resolve that issue. All chapters will flow from this statement. Once you've built your foundation your book will grow day by day.
Before you start to write, be sure you have a good reason to write your book. Ask yourself some questions. Will your ebook present useful information to the reader and is that information still current? How will your book affect the lives of your readers? Will it keep their attention? Does you book answer meaningful and significant questions?
Target Audience
Another necessary step is to determine who your audience is. Who do you want to target your writing for? This will dictate many elements of your book, such as the style, tone, and even length of your ebook. Do you want to promote your business or bring traffic to your website?
You may wish to sell your book as a product or offer it as a free gift for filling out a sign up form. You can use the various chapters to create an e-mail lesson course. The more you know why you are doing this the easier the actual writing will be. You must figure out how to keep your writing interesting. Sometimes a bit of humor or a few testimonials or stories will keep the reader going.
Have a Conversation With Your Audience
Write with a casual, conversational tone rather than a formal tone. Readers respond better to the feeling that you are having a conversation with them. Break up the length and structure of your sentences. Effective writing takes practice. Make yourself a schedule to write at least one page a day. Study books and magazines about the process of writing and make notes. The art of writing is a process. The more often you write, the easier it is and the better you will become at it.
An ebook is usually read on the computer screen so be aware that you must make reading your ebook easy on the reader's eye. Using white space between lines and paragraphs will take some of the stress off of your readers' eyes. If your page is too dense, your reader will want to stop reading as soon as their eyes begin to feel grainy or achy. Use an easy to read font such as Ariel or Verdana. Pick a font that is easy on the eyes and use it all the way through your book.
Whatever else you do, don't forget to run a spell and grammar check! You will be judged by things like correct punctuation and spelling so don't mess up an otherwise great book by having misspelled words. Finally, create an index and a bibliography to make finding information in your book easy. You are done! You've written a book!
