So you and Mr. Stud have been hanging out for a while, and you like him, but there seem to be a few things that make you raise an eyebrow. There are some things with dating that you should not do and things that should not be done. Relationships and dating are tough, and even though there may be things that make you want to grab the lubricant when he is over, you may want to think twice if you notice these relationship red flags.
Red flag number one is all about messages. Text messages, emails, and voicemails. If you consistently have to ask, Did you get that last message I sent you? chances are fairly good that something is up. This is especially the case if you have been having to ask repeatedly all of a sudden. What has happened to make him or her not bother to answer your messages? Remember that being busy is not an answer; if he/she really wanted to answer you, it only takes a minute.
The second red flag has to do with sex. This might be for the more long term relationships, but maybe not. If you do not feel comfortable talking to your girl or guy about sex, whether it is about wearing a condom or what fantasies you have, perhaps you should not be so quick to hop in the sack with him. Conversation is the key to any relationship, and if there is a communication barrier in place for one reason or another, it needs to be removed before everything falls apart. If you have to, sit down and have a heart to heart about talking. It works wonders.
Many of us have gone through the out of the blue break up. Unfortunately, when the end of a relationship comes out of the blue for one person in a partnership, it is usually only out of the blue on one end. On the other hand, if you have a sense that something is wrong or that your partner is thinking of breaking up with you, the worst thing you can do is to ignore it. Talk about it; find out what is going on. Perhaps you both can work together to fix it before it is irretrievably broken.
Red flag number four is all about networking. MySpace, facebook, and any of the other social networking sites can wreak havoc on a relationship, especially if you both have profiles on them. Take caution about what you choose to post on your profile. The red flag comes when you have been dating a guy for months and he still has not changed his status to in a relationship. Many experts think that you should let the guy change his status first, but if it has been months since you started being involved, you may want to approach him about his status.
Our final red flag has to do with the exes. If your girl or guy repeatedly talks about their exes using terms like psycho, insane, or any other colorful adjectives, he or she will one day use those same terms when they are describing you one day, so take caution. Whatever the circumstances were in the relationships with your partners exes, consistently referring to them as jerks and sluts is a red flag that should slap you in the face. When that red flag does slap you, be sure not to turn the other cheek; run away fast.
