Many companies use computers to conduct daily activities. Computers have operating systems installed on them, which in turn run various applications for different purposes. Since many activities today are assigned to a number of individuals instead of just one, some applications with the main purpose of improving communication between these individuals have been developed.

One such application is the Microsoft Exchange 2007, collaborative software and messaging solution developed for companies that use Microsoft infrastructures. The predecessor was released in 2003, but the Exchange 2007 support for applications has been improved significantly.

Let’s talk about which fields have been improved with Microsoft Exchange 2007. First and foremost, protection is very important in any company, so this is one aspect that received a lot of attention. Antivirus and anti-spam is better, the security and encryption of data has also been taken to another level, as well as clustering with data replication.

Workers also have benefited from some improvements as well. Considering the nature of Microsoft Exchange 2007, the calendaring, messaging, mobility and web access has been improved so the access to the needed information would be faster.

Unified messaging is a new feature that has been added to Microsoft Exchange 2007. This allows users to receive voice mails and faxes into their mailboxes, in addition to e-mails. Their mailboxes can also be accessed from various wireless devices such as cell-phones. It also allows users to assign voice commands in order to control or listen to emails over the phone.

The IT operators need some improvements in order to run this software. The Exchange 2007 support platforms need to be improved, because this software runs only on 64-bit operating systems, so all the components need to comply.

The Exchange 2007 support for databases has also been improved. When the 2003 Standard version was released, it supported only one 16 GB database per server, later increased to 75 GB. The Enterprise Edition of the 2003 version supported 16 TB. In the 2007 version, the size of a database is limited only by the capacity of the hardware and the window for maintenance and backup.

Another improved aspect was the Exchange 2007 support for the number of mail databases and storage groups. The predecessor supported only 1 of each in Standard edition and 4 groups and 20 databases in the Enterprise edition. Microsoft Exchange 2007 supports 5 of each in Standard edition and 50 of each in Enterprise edition.

These are just a few of a much larger number of improvements that have been added to the 2007 version of Microsoft Exchange. If you want to know more information regarding this software, be sure to visit the website hostedex.com.
