My acne advice and experience...
Acne & Accutane: My Experience...
My Acne Experience
Ron Heron
Many Myths abound and surround all acne problems!
Following are just a few of the more common myths.
#1; Babies don't get Acne! It's a fact more than
30% of babies are
born with some form of acne.
#2; It's OK to pop or pick at yout acne! No it's
not this can force bacteria further
into the follicle and increase the problem plus
lead to scarring. Leave them alone!
#3; What you eat gives you acne! This simply isn'
t true. Whilst cutting back on some products that
may increase the oils in your skin may help.
#4; Bad hygiene causes acne you're dirty! No
doubt hygiene is important in all aspects of life
but it is not the reason for your acne in fact,
overwashing and scrubbing your skin with a
flannel for example can make it worse!
#5; You will outgrow acne. Wrong! Not everyone
can outgrow acne and it may not disappear by
itself. Do yourself and your body a favour and
consult your Doctor or Dermatologist and follow
their advice as to which treatment will be best
for you.
#6; Get out in the Sun and get rid of your acne.
Getting out into the sun for extended periods can
lead to other problems such as sunburn,
heatstroke and possibly skin cancer. Whilst it is
good to get some exercise such as swimming
remember that the suns rays are actually
intensified when you are in the water and you can
burn very quickly!
I don't know how bad your acne is, all I can do
is tell you of my experience with acne. When I
was about twelve years old my first acne appeared
and I didn't really get rid of it until I was in
my forties! I had acne everywhere in all forms on
my face, chest, back, arms, neck and even on
occasions in my private parts! It was terrible!
When you are the butt of other peoples jokes and
bullying it really starts to get you down. It's
hard enough to put up with the discomfort of
rampant acne let alone the jokes!
Depression and lack of self esteem is common
among acne sufferers but it shouldn't be because,
it isn't your fault! You can get your acne fixed
but remember it may take some time. Please do not
follow my example of Barbequing your skin, as I
mentioned above, it can and does lead to skin
cancer! I know that only too well, every year I
have to go to my Dermatologist and get checked
over. Inevetibly, there are plenty of Solar
Keratoses that have to be burned off and
sometimes there are others which have to be cut
out and sent off for pathology checking to ensure
they are not Melanomas!
Anyway, I got a little offtrack there back to the
point. How I eventually got rid of my acne. My
Dermatologist put me on the Pill! No not the full
blown version but one used by women who have low
levels of Oestregen to boost their levels. The
result was a reduction in the oil content of my
skin (sebum). The correct daily dosage was
calculated on my weight and I was advised to take
it for six weeks. After six weeks Voila! my acne
wasn't gone completely but I was down to only two
or three. I continued with the medication for two
more weeks and then everything was gone! Bye Bye
Acne!
I hope you will be inspired by my story to get
professional help for your acne quicker than I
did and not try this and that wasting thirty
years in the process.
GOOD LUCK!
