Britain may not be exotic, nor may it have the most perfect weather in the world, but that doesn't mean that this place isn't worth any interest. After all, how many places could boast having such immense influence in the context of modern culture? Much of the popular fantasy fiction today could not have been possible if it weren't for Tolkien, for example, and British rock has undoubtedly revolutionized popular rock music back in the day; lately, the influence is still echoed in some rock music (the British/Irish rock sensation U2 can still draw crowds, and there a Beatles fans everywhere who gravitate toward Liverpool to soak in the city where it all began). Britain is the home of acclaimed young adult writer J.K. Rowling as well as cult comedic fantasy novelist Terry Pratchett. Neil Gaiman, referred to as ?the rock star of the literary world? also hailed from Britain, though he is currently living in America. There are many people who go to various places in England to tour places associated with British celebrities such as these.

Apart from them, the historical areas of Britain also receive much love from tourists. Many of these are the great historical structures ? towers, castles, bridges and even prehistoric stone circles and standing stones. Places associated with known British historical figures such as Shakespeare also attract as many visitors as current British celebrities attract. The fact that Britain had such a complex and varying history (given that it now includes the history of four separate territories) makes its historical landmarks far more interesting.

Then there are the more modern attractions of shopping, arts, and culture that are associated with Britain. All in all, it is a place most definitely worth visiting.
