The Chardonnay Wine Grape

The most popular type of white wine that is common all over the world is the chardonnay grape. Its distinctive taste and aroma depends on the location and methods used in manufacturing the particular white wine variant. Other than that, this type of white wine has several varieties of distinctive styles and flavors. The popularity of Chardonnay is extensive throughout Europe and other countries.

The Chardonnay is a non aroma type of wine. The most intense and diverse are the ones made by the Americans and French; these types of Chardonnay are among the most preferred white wines all over the world. American and French Chardonnay does suffer from fatigue and its flavor and richness is the reason why more and more people these days opt for these types of wine.

Chardonnay grapes have a green color appearance and have thin skins. The Chardonnay grape variety is the outcome of the "Pinot" and "Croatian Blanc" variety of grapes (these grape variants are considered extinct today). On the other hand, the Chardonnay grapes are fermented and matured using oak barrels. The oak barrels help bring about the vanilla flavor that Chardonnay is famous for. Chardonnay is also fermented and matured using bottles. However, fermenting and aging Chardonnay using bottles will not age as much as red wine.

Most people these days love to have their Chardonnay wines served chilled. Also, Chardonnay compliments extremely well with dishes that contain butter and cheese. The Chardonnay wines also contain less acid levels than other types of wine, which makes them compliment well with seafood too. There are lots of types of food varieties that can be paired with the Chardonnay which is the reason why Chardonnay is very popular among wine drinkers. Lots of fine restaurants serve it Chardonnay, especially Italian and seafood restaurants.

The Chardonnay grape is also used in manufacturing Champagne and other types of sparkling wines. Even though Chardonnay wine is the mostly used type of wine, there are other usages for the Chardonnay grapes that also lead to fine quality wines. Oak barrels are mostly used with the wine and provide it with some distinctive delicious flavors as it matures. Sad to say that Chardonnay wines costs more than other types of liquors, however it is still one of the most opted types of wine. Chardonnay wines are sold at all liquor stores. And also makes a great addition to your wine collection.
