European Flight Travel Laws

Ever since September 11th, many countries have stepped up security at airports and on flights. If you are planning to travel in Europe , you may want to take note of these dos and don'ts.

  • Travel Laws
    1. Many flights will not allow you to carry any kind of liquids or fluids including perfumes, hairspray. Shampoos have been banned recently due to increased safety measures, although procedures may vary with different airlines.
    2. Do not carry drugs, heroine, brown sugar and any other kind of narcotics.
    3. Compressed gas cylinders like oxygen, butane, and aqualung are definite nos. This includes corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell alkalis or fireworks, guns and flares.
    4. Lighters, matches, magnetized materials, offensive irritating materials, medicines without prescriptions are also not allowed.

      There are a few other items that are also banned in certain countries and could result in arrest if found in your belongings. Please check with your travel agent for more details.
  • Some traveller tips while in Europe
    1. If your luggage is expensive, remember to declare a higher value during check in so that the airline will be liable in case of loss.
    2. The major car rental services provide free assistance if you have a flat tyre so don't forget to contact your company if you get into such a situation.
    3. European countries have strict rules against law-breaking. However, special pardons might be accorded to foreigners, so do always inform the authorities of your nationality.
    4. Heavy fines are imposed for littering in a garden or tourist attraction.
    5. Overtaking or speeding may also result in a heavy charge. Always follow the traffic lights and road instructions which are generally clear and concise. Never attempt to bribe a law-enforcement officer as that might result in severe fines or imprisonment.
    6. Always be polite to people and never trust a stranger in the Europe because there are many thieves and pickpockets at tourist locations
    7. Gay sex and lesbians are not encouraged at all places in this continent unless you are in Amsterdam , Netherlands
    8. If you are caught with a prostitute you might be arrested.
    9. Remember to watch your alcohol intake as the police will be on lookout for drunks.
