Koh Samui Waterfalls

  • Hin Lad Waterfall
Definitely a must do when in Koh Samui. The stunning Hin Lad Waterfall is a gorgeous site, featuring a dense jungle path which spans 3km. Visitors mostly come here during the rainy season as the waterfall becomes larger and is at its best.

It is accessible by car (end of route 4172). Suitable for picnic and relaxation. On both side of the road to the waterfall are langsat plantations. Not far from the waterfall is the elephant camp. The tourists who are interested in straddle an elephant please contact the camp's office.
  • Namuang Waterfall
The waterfall is about 15 meters. It is pools are emerald. In the afternoon the rainbow will appear. Na Muang Waterfalls are set in lush jungle surrounds, easily accessible just off the main ring road Route 4169 about halfway between Nathon and Lamai Beach.

It is quite a hike up, from the Safari Park area, although one can get a jeep ride part way up, 100 baht return trip. But you still need some hiking to get a good view.

  • Namuang Song Waterfall
It is near Namuang waterfall. The area is known for its strong currents. The tourists have to go on foot and it takes about 30 minutes. Before reaching the waterfall, the tourists will pass by the elephant camp and coconut plantations. The highest point of the waterfall is divided naturally into two sections.
  • Tar Nim Waterfall
The waterfall with Buddha statutes. Although the waterfall itself is not spectacular, the trip to the waterfall is beautiful. You will go through beautiful jungle road with steep hills and narrow paved surface. The whole area looks like a sculpture garden. Entrance fee is 80 baht.
  • Khun Si Waterfall
This waterfall is a hidden gem among the nature. Khun Si Waterfall is located in the mountains of Koh Samui, with a wonderful view of the beach of Maenam. There are a lot of small rapids which are transformed into a small river at the bottom. And in those natural rocky recesses it is such a pleasure to cool off under a stream of running water on a hot day.
  • Khao Yai Waterfall
Stunning Waterfall with 20baht entrance fee. To access Khao Yai, exit off the main road; a small sign should indicate the waterfall to you. Pass the elephant trekking, restaurants and paintball field. The waterfall is about 1.2 km or a little over half a mile up the road.

Khao Yai National park (Thailand's third largest national park) is in the vicinity and offers countless jungle adventures, although most require you to venture deep into the jungle on a 4X4. The great thing about Khao Yai is that it’s accessible off a paved road.
  • Nam Tok Na Muang
At 30m, this is the tallest waterfall on Samui. Also known as Purple waterfall and lies in the centre of the island about 12km from Na Thon. During the rainy season, the water cascades over ethereal purple rocks, and there’s a great pool for swimming at the base.

The Koh Samui waterfalls are what attracts a lot of people to the jungle. They are renown as delightfully picturesque natural formations which never fail to captivate visitors.
