Many people are barely getting by financially. Most of these individuals can be helped using a single technique. That technique is reducing expenses. Simply put, they spend too much money. If you are spending more money than you earn you could find yourself in the same boat if you are not there already. So, how can you fix it and what would be your smartest financial move?

Spend less. Don't cut your expenses, Slash Them! Without a doubt, this would be your smartest financial move and it will put more money in your pocket. Then, you can use some of that extra money to reduce some of your credit card debt.

If you find yourself drowning in expenses and living paycheck to paycheck, make some changes. Leave those credit cards at home. If you don't carry them with you, you won't be tempted to use them. Do you want to big money? Forget those expensive lunches and bring your lunch. This one idea can save you thousands of dollars each year.

Another change that can save you big bucks is this: Carry no money except a 100 dollar bill in your wallet for emergencies. And no, whatever you are thinking, it's not an emergency! This technique will stop most of the frivolous that you make. Most people are reluctant to break a 100 dollar bill just to buy a cup of coffee or a bagel. This is another idea that can save you a lot of money. Most people spend much more than they think on small comfort items.

So remember, don't reduce your spending, slash it. Spend an afternoon figuring out how you can cut your expenses. I'd be willing to bet that it would be one of your most profitable afternoons of the year.
