Getting Rid of Acne

Acne has its roots in the sebaceous glands of the skin. This has got an inflammatory nature and is characterized by the appearance of papules or pustules. Blackheads may also accompany.

Acne is a common problem of teenagers. Older people may also suffer from this skin problem. This usually starts in the teenage years while its effects last long beyond. You need only take a little care to ensure that the problem is nipped in the bud. Treatments that start late may not give the same degree of healing. Some faint marks may remain even after extending the best efforts in case of late treatments.

The root cause of acne is fluctuation in the proportion and balance of certain hormones secreted. Some harsh skin care products when used also gives rise to the situation. This is further aggravated by the dehydration of the skin. Yeast build up in the body is common in case of sufferers of acne and this can also act as a causative factor of the disorder.

While going about with treatment of acne a diagnosis needs to be carried out first. Only after ascertaining the specific cause of the disorder you are suffering from can you proceed with taking recourse to adequate steps of prevention and control.

Among the many causes of acne hormone imbalance may be indicated from tests. This often stems from stress which effects overproduction of hormones and efforts need to be made to restore balance. Exercises and relaxation techniques come of help in this situation. Yoga and deep breathing exercises prove immensely helpful. Intake of coffee should be restricted since it contains caffeine that stimulates hormone production, which can worsen the acne situation.

It may be noted that during acne condition foods that increase acidity in the system should be avoided. Dairy products (especially those having high fat content), refined and cooked carbohydrates, fats and meat ought to be avoided or restricted since these promote acne formation. In lieu of these there should be the intake of fresh vegetables, fruits and some nuts which are alkali producing and help in acne healing. Sugary products and yeast in foods also need to be avoided.

Antibiotics that are prescribed can be administered to get rid of acne. But these should be supplemented with probiotics, which encourage the formation of good bacteria in intestines thus helping digestion. Good digestion is important for preventing acne. This prevents discharge of waste through the skin that blocks the pores and encourages acne formation.

Application of harsh skin care products is to be avoided since these dry the skin to a great extent and causes the sebaceous glands to secrete more oil that blocks the pores and creates more acne. It is suggested that exfoliation of the skin is done periodically for getting rid of dead cells and blocked pores and keeping acne under control.
