Select relaxing colors, and do avoid bright colors like red and oranges. Light the area with soft lighting. If you like reading, do not overflow the whole space with bright lights but choose a task lamp and position it over your seating. Play with lights and colors, but think also in terms of touch. Choose soft textures and materials, and forms that are curvy and simple.
