First let's look at the two types of fluoride. The first, sodium fluoride, is a by-product of approximately 50 industries, such as agro-chemical & heavy manufacturing.

President Lyndon Johnson's Science Advisory Committee named fluoride compounds "one of America's four leading pollutants", according to author Phillip Day in his book Health Wars. That is a disturbing fact. Even more disturbing is that nothing more was heard about this finding after fluoridation began!

The second type is more soluble and less toxic than the first. it is calcium fluoride and is the type found in nature.

Industries had a huge issue with fluoride after the wars. They had nowhere to get rid of it. It is an interesting point that the aluminum industry was the first to suggest fluoridation. (Day, 2001) They needed to dispose of it legally, so proposed 'laundering' it, and passing it through the water systems to consumers. Harmless, right?

Consider the Liucin Township. Eighteen of twenty two villages there had serious side effects from the fluoride in the water: hardened brown teeth, bowed backs, shrunken limbs, and early death. Over 80% of the people were severely affected. And no, this wasn't 60 years ago. This was in 1981. (Seybolt 13)

As far today, critics say that the decay rates of children's teeth are no different in fluoridated cities than in those non-fluoridated. If anything, the overconsumption of sugar and poor dental hygiene is being masked in these areas.

It is widely known that fluoride in the body over certain levels may be harmful. However, research shows that we may be slowly poisoning ourselves due to the fact it may also accumulate in the body over time.

In testing, fluoride has changed healthy cells into cancer cells. It has shown to cause genetic damage, and studies have noted increased risks of heart disease as well as cancers in those cities which choose fluoridation.

I believe I am going to jump on the bandwagon for this one, along with France, Sweden, and the Netherlands, and say no more fluoride! Even some US locales have banned it. For my household, it will be only filtered water to drink, thank you!
