The extensive application of air conditioning is due to its cooling, ventilating and dehumidification characteristics in different areas. As such, for the aspects like humidity, air movement, air quality and controlled temperature air conditioning applications can be broadly categorized into two parts: Comfort applications and Process Applications.

Comfort Applications

Comfort application ends up providing a constant range of soothing atmosphere inside a room even in spite of the heavy interior heat loads and the change in the exterior weather conditions.

As per the Hawthorne effect, the productivity of a worker is dependant on the temperature change inside an office and industry. Accordingly a central air conditioning device can boost up the efficiency to a great extent.

Take for instance, the presence of air conditioning in the buildings: Due to the increasing wind speed it is really mandatory to install an air conditioner inside a tall building. It provides a sufficient source of ventilated air. For different kinds of buildings the requirements do change substantially.

?Air conditioning for the low rise residential buildings including the single family houses, duplexes, and small apartment, provides a significant cooling option as per human needs.

-High rise residential buildings including tall dormitories and apartment blocks have the central air conditioning system to provide cold and fresh air without any dead end inside the room.

-Central air conditioning is also used in case of the commercial buildings consisting of buildings built for the commercial purposes: offices, malls, shopping centers, restaurants, etc.

-Hospitals, governmental, academic institutions also do require air conditioning for warding of the excessive heat in the hot weather.

-Workers? productivity can be increased to a great deal in the industry with central air conditioning system installed therein.

-Air conditioning can also be used in variety of transportation means: vehicles, trains, ships, aircraft, and spacecraft.

Process Applications

Regardless of the interior heat and outside change of weather, process application intends to set conditions, not as per individual preferences. Following are some of the suchlike places.

-Hospital operation theatre rooms, clean rooms for the production integrated circuits and laboratories are all equipped with the air conditioning facility to have the fresh, dehumidified and cold air.

-Other than the cooling system for the sake of giving comforts to the passengers, air conditioning in the air craft basically maintains a slightly high and normal air pressure than low pressure outside the aircraft. In the high altitude it must be required.

Similar other areas do also need a quality air. Data processing centers, Textile factories, plants and farm growing areas, nuclear operation units, food cooking and processing areas and mines, etc. are some of those places which demand air conditioning so far the dehumidification and ventilation are concerned.
