Vista is the member in the family of Microsoft operating system which is also code named officially as the longhorn. The software was developed in 2006 and released in stages to manufactures, business customers and retailers awaiting a long period of five years after the introduction of its predecessor Windows XP.

The New version was introduced with many new features, graphic user interface, style dubbed windows Aero, better and improved search features, better multimedia creation tools, and an entire new redesigned network with much better display systems. It includes a new version 3.0 of the Network Frame aiming to make much easy writing applications with the traditional Windows. The new developed interface of Window Vista is intended to be cleaner and pleasing as compared to its predecessors, including transparencies, live icons, animations and an entire new level of eye candy.

The start menu has been modified such that it no longer uses ever expanding boxes thus making easy navigation for the users. The panel anchored to the side of the screen houses the Desktop Gadgets, which are small applets for a specialized purpose, which can also be placed on other part of the desktop. Vista runs in complete isolation thus maintaining its privacy of the protection mode.

New revamp features like the Media Player includes word wheeling with better photo display and organization with better ability to share music over network, Xbox 360 integration and best support system. The new version enables one-click access to common directories with the introduction of the new Bread Crump navigation system. A companion program provides better ability to create video DVD enabling User to design DVD with title, menu, soundtrack with zooming effects. A Vista ready PC can take full advantage of all the new added features of Window Vista.

With simplified security updates that can be operated via control panel Users are provided with latest drivers preinstalled and made available at the time of adding new device. The New Vista is also integrated with speech recognition to help users configure command-and-control commands, currently supporting several language reading features like Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

In true sense we can say that the New Window Vista is a technology based release which includes advanced features and better Graphics display at tearing free Desktop with special effects. While its new features and security improvements have already gained positive reviews, but Vista has also been the target of much criticism and negative press releases. Criticism has targeted its high system requirements, more restrictive licensing terms and inclusion of new digital rights management technology with the lack of compatibility and a number of authorization prompts for User Account Control. Despite all these issues, Vista has managed to achieve its expectations of 150 to 200 million users world wide.
