When parents show their concern about a harmless thing like cradle cap, they should not be blamed as over-cautious or fussy. Everybody loves their children and they love a neonate more than anything else. They want their baby to be the best looking one in the world. May be they are pauper; but they wish to have babies that look like prince or princesses. So, it is obvious that they will be concerned about patchy, crusty marks on the skin of their baby.
When a small spot is enough to make parents of a neonate to be worried about then ugly marks on a relatively larger area of the body of the kid is bound to make them afraid. Cradle cap generally occurs on the head of the baby, along the side of the ears or the eyebrows. All these areas are easily visible. Hence, those parents who show concern about cradle cap cannot be passed up as finicky people.
However, the fact is that everything on the body of a baby that looks somehow ugly and appears to be injurious may not be harmful in reality. Cradle cap is something of this sort. It seems to be harmful; but actually it is not so. It is simply a skin condition, not a harmful disease. The best thing is that it vanishes automatically in course of time. No serious medical treatment is required for this even.
So, in no way, cradle cap can be called something dangerous; and hence, should be concerned about. A little carefulness is enough to keep it under control. It may start spreading to some other parts of the body as well. The affected area may also get too hard and crusty that may look ugly. So, parents should take care to prevent both these two things from happening. The rest of the things are not to be worried about.
