E Commerce Web Page
Maneet Puri
E-commerce websites are a tad different from other websites, reason being that primary purpose. Unlike regular websites that have an underlying purpose of making business, e-commerce websites can state the sales purpose blatantly! Therefore, while regular web design focuses on the homepage, e-commerce websites need to focus more on their product pages because that's what matters to the audience as well as the business owners.
By making your product pages interesting and appealing you can actually transform visitors into customers. Customers base their buying decision on the product pages. If they feel the product is worthy and convincing, they are sure to go ahead and make a purchase and if that is not the case, they would just skip the urge. Here are some tips to make your product pages convert into sales-making agents:
Use High Quality Images
Unlike physical stores, people cannot actually check out the products that they are going to purchase. They can only see the product images and make the decision whether to buy or not. Therefore, make sure you feed them with appealing product images that convinces them of the worthiness of the product.
Take time to prepare your images and provide multiple images of a product from all possible angles so that visitors get a feel of actually seeing it in real. The smaller the product, the larger the image should be so that visitors get to see a detailed view of the same.
Make the Shopping Cart Prominent
The basic purpose of your product pages is to encourage sales and urge visitors to make a purchase. Therefore, the call to action on the pages should be ?Add to Cart?. But imagine a scenario where the customer if ready to buy but cannot figure out the purchase button? You could lose a potential client! Hence, make sure the Add to Cart button is located at a prominent position on the web page and is easily visible. Make the size of the text larger and use a distinctive icon. Also, use a bright color for the button that stands out from the surrounding text.
Enhance Website Offers
Nothing attracts visitors better than discounts and freebies. Therefore make sure to highlight these features on your product pages and not only your homepage. This is because visitors often enter your website through internal pages and therefore it is important to notify them of the website offers as well. If you have special holiday discounts and free shipment promotions, make sure to mention it on all your product pages. And take care to highlight them appropriately. After all grabbing attention is the basic purpose!
Don't Cheat on the Price
Many e-commerce websites, in a bid to lure customers don't specify the total cost of the product includes shipping charges etc. on the product pages. And customers usually realize the actual cost at the check-out counter and usually abandon the product then. This not only lessens a sale but also robs on the credibility of the website.
Make sure you list the exact price along with additional charges so that customers have a clear idea about what it is going to cost them.
