So you've decided that you want to hire a commercial cleaning company. Congratulations! You've taken a big step towards protecting the overall health and morale of your employees, the image of your company, and your own valuable time and resources. In fact, most businesses who use professional cleaning services often report less sick days taken by employees, more free time to focus on making money, and a significant savings over hiring a permanent employee devoted exclusively to cleaning. Yet savvy business owners are often unsure of what steps to take in hiring an office cleaning company that can fit their needs - as well as their budget.

If this sounds like you, here are some useful tips and techniques to help you decide which commercial cleaning company is right for your business:

Know what needs to be done first. Before you can find a cleaning service that's right for your company's needs, you'll have to first find out what those needs are! Depending on the size of your company, you could need as little work as maintaining a clutter-free office or much larger projects like shop fitting cleanup or builders cleanup, if you have an eye for expansion. The smaller your cleaning needs, then you're probably better off looking at smaller professional cleaning services that can pay more attention to you as an individual. If, however, you're looking for a company that can offer you flexible options - again, like shop fitting cleanup or builders cleanup - then look for a larger company that has enough services to fit your every need, no matter how grand the project.

Do your research. Depending on where your business is located, there can be several commercial cleaning companies that will all compete for your business. When you demonstrate interest in a company's professional cleaning services, you'll often receive a bid from that particular company. Before you receive a bid, however, a company will request to take a tour of your office or facilities to get a feel for how much work will be involved. Factors that will be looked at will often include the size of your office (i.e. square footage), the tasks that you need to be done (this is why it's important to know your needs first), the amount of time that will be needed to completely clean your office, and your ideal schedule for how often your workplace will be cleaned.

Each of these factors can significantly affect the bid that a commercial cleaning company will give you, so make sure that you clearly outline your expectations. After touring your office, the office cleaning company will send you a bid for what they financially require for cleaning your workplace. If you've got several companies competing for your bid, make sure that you get all bids before making your decision - this way, you'll be able to better compare which company can offer you a better price while meeting your needs.

Can't decide? Sometimes you'll receive equally appealing bids from several quality professional cleaners. If this is the case, make sure that you take the proper steps for accurately determining which company you'd like to hire. These steps include:

1) Ask your professional peers which office cleaning services they use. If a known associate employs a company that offered you a bid, you can ask about the quality of their work, their timeliness, and the professionalism of their employees. It's a great way to get accurate feedback without having to go through a company's website!

2) Check online for any customer reviews. There are plenty of website that have feedback on services provided by different companies - try Googling a commercial cleaning company name and read what their customers have to say.

3) Make sure that each company has a great worker's compensation program. While this may seem like an unimportant factor, if an employee of the office cleaning company hurts him or herself on your property, you may be liable for any damages.

Choosing the right office cleaning services for your business doesn't have to be a frustrating task. If you take the time to write down your office's cleaning needs, the expectations you have for your desired commercial cleaning company, and do a little research, you'll be armed with enough knowledge to make the right choice that will fit all of your needs.
