![]() Founded in 1881, Meikosha, Ltd. was the forerunner of today’s OKI and Japan’s first telecommunications equipment manufacturer. Underpinned by an enterprising spirit which has been nurtured and passed down through the company’s long history, OKI has developed and provided a succession of products that have contributed to the development of today’s information society. Always in the vanguard of technology innovation, OKI began manufacturing computers containing Japan’s first domestically developed core memories, developed the world’s first automated teller machine (ATM) that recycles deposited bills as funds for withdrawals, and introduced the first Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) system to the Japanese market. The company is also committed to providing highly reliable LED printers to customers around the world in its quest to enhance business efficiency and create comfortable office environments. OKI Data Singapore is the Regional Head Office for OKI offices in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, and a division of OKI Data Corporation of Japan. Within this region, OKI has offices in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, plus operations in Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam, and manufacturing facilities in Thailand. Since establishing in Singapore in 1981, OKI Data Singapore has gone through business phases culminating in the formation of OKI Data Singapore in 1999 whereby OKI Electronics Singapore transferred its printer business to OKI Data Singapore. The transition was the natural progress following the OKI Group global strategy.

Today, the OKI printer product portfolio comprises of four distinct segments: colour and mono NIP printers, MFP devices, which combine printing, copying, scanning and faxing functionalities, and Serial Impact Dot Matrix Printers (SIDMs).
Since printers were initially developed, OKI has focused its attention on the superior advantages of LED technologies. In 1981, we developed the world’s first printer using LEDs as the light source. Compared with the laser method used by our competitors, these products have superior advantages in terms of compact design, high speed, and high resolution. They are also capable of printing on longs sheets of paper and can handle a diversity of media.
