Why Some People Hate Dell & Why Some Like Dell ?

Consumers will always have opinions and comments about a company and its products and services. Some of them will not hesitate to praise and recommend once they are satisfied with the product quality. These happy customers write positive reviews and encourage others to buy the item they like.

Some, on the other hand, will not hesitate to gripe once they feel that their expectations were not met. Others even go to the extent of suing the company for false advertising and deceptive business practices.

The case of Dell, one of the world's large computer manufacturing companies, is no different. Some consumers love their products while some don't. Here's why:

Pros
Dell offers a host of products for both home and office use. The company manufactures laptops, desktop computers, printers, printer ink cartridges, projectors and electronic accessories.

Dell has also made purchasing very easy and comfortable for the consumer by launching a website. Found at Dell.com, the user friendly website does not only carry all the merchandise, it also features a host of promotional offers and discounts. The company offers free shipping, price cuts on in demand notebooks such as the Dell Inspiron and on select printers, an attractive financing scheme and a special "Preferred Account" where qualified customers get instant credit approval, substantial credit limits and no interest payment options. Prospective clients can also check on other items for sale such as mp3 players, television sets and storage devices, among others, through Dell's website. A Truly, Dell's website has made it possible for the client to shop within the comforts of his own home.

However, what truly keep buyers hooked on Dell are the relatively low prices. Compared to other brands, Dell's products offer the same features but at lesser prices.

Cons
The major turnoffs are the seemingly endless lawsuits filed against Dell. Even the New York State Attorney General's office has filed one. Complaints include ineffective customer service, alleged use of defective "refurbished" parts or computer units as replacements, failure to provide "on site" service even though such is included in the purchased service contracts and problems related to the batteries used in some of their laptops. In fact, the company is voluntarily recalling Dell-branded batteries with Sony-manufactured cells and offering free replacements. Critics also state that Dell engages in a "bait and switch" marketing strategy and in other deceptive business practices with regard to their promotional financing, billing and rebate offers.
