Computers and Food

By: Jesse Miller

You are probably wondering what could possibly computers have in common with food. The answer is simple and very pertinent; computers are used to make our everyday food.

How is that possible? Think about the farms that grow cows or chicken. Nowadays we don't use farmers in the traditional way. We have technicians and managers. Computers handle the task of feeding the animals and providing them with the right amount of water and food. Every ratio is perfectly calculated according the animal's age and weight and then the appropriate amount of food is placed into its stand.

We can all remember the days when we saw on TV or in movies cowboys that took care of the ranch and used to grow cattle and tame horses. Those days have long gone and all that is left are a handful of computer specialists that tend to the computer's software. There are no more rugged farmers that could wake up at sunrise, all that has remained, are computers that calculate the efficiency rate or each animal and the quantity of food they need to ingest.
