Packing for a trip to Cyprus

By: Keith Barrett

Looking forward to a holiday is always an exciting time and it's also a time when a little bit of planning is often required. Making sure that you have packed all the essential items can take much of the stress out of a trip abroad.

By planning correctly, you can prepare for a relaxing time away from home.

When talking about the essentials, it's clear that there are some pieces of paperwork that you'll need to have with you. The main ones are likely to include your passport, airline tickets, accommodation booking confirmation, driving licence and car hire details.

Make sure that you pull all of these pieces of information together well in advance.

It's worth checking some weeks before departure that your passport is valid for the trip, as passport renewals can take quite a while to process.

If you're a European Union citizen travelling to Cyprus then make sure that you pack your E111 card - this will save you from having to pay for any medical treatment that you might need while you are on the island.

In terms of clothing, it's important that you pack appropriate items for the Cypriot climate. Cyprus has warm, dry summers, so make sure that you have plenty of clothing that will help to keep you cool.

Don't forget to pack clothes that will be appropriate for the evenings too, particularly if you are thinking of eating out in restaurants.

Suntan lotion should not be forgotten and is absolutely vital in the summer months. Although it can be purchased after you arrive, many visitors prefer to buy it prior to their holiday.

By packing these items, you can be sure that you'll have the most vital elements for enjoying your time on the island.
