Think in the Now It's not easy to lose weight. That much we all know. But what isn't so well known is that there are simple ways to make the task in hand a lot easier to achieve - and it's all to do with perspective. The secret to achieving any goal in life is to break it down into manageable chunks. The exact same principle can be applied to losing weight - and it can bring excellent results. The trouble with losing weight is that we have an image of what we want to attain, and that image can be a very long way off. For example, we might imagine ourselves at our nine stone goal weight - wearing a slinky outfit and looking and feeling fantastic. But when we look in the mirror now, what we see might be a wildly different picture. How on earth can we reach our goal, we think. How can we possibly lose enough weight to make that image a reality? The key to success is to change our perspective. It's much like a long car journey. You know your final destination is there - but you can't see it. You can only see to the end of the road. Okay, so you aim for that. Once you reach the end of the road, you'll be able to see the next landmark to aim for - and so on, until you reach your destination. The same technique can be applied to dieting. Don't think of how much you need to lose in total - just aim for the first few pounds, or kilograms, that you want to lose. When you reach that first target, reward yourself with anything but food! You need to establish a pattern of small goals - small achievements on the road to your final dieting destination. By doing this, you are far more likely to succeed, and fit into that slinky outfit you've got your eye on after all. About the author: |
