Hondas Ongoing Facilities Expansions

Honda Motor Co. is planning to increase its motorcycle output capacity at its Brazilian plant by more than 30 percent by 2009 thereby increasing the annual production to 2 million units, according to a Nikkei report.

Aside from increasing annual production at its Brazilian plant, the automaker is reportedly also planning of expanding its existing facilities as well as increasing production lines at its plant in Manaus, Northern Brazil. The automaker is likely to spend around 5 billion yen or more with work to start next year.

This move of the company aims to boost exports to Colombia and other South American nations, according to the business daily report.

Honda: No Plans in Building Engine Production Plant in China
Honda has recently announced that it has no plans whatsoever of building a new engine plant in China. The automaker also denies reports saying that it plans to boost its Chinese engine production by around 40 percent thereby requiring the construction of a new plant.

The second-biggest automaker in Japan confirms that its local joint venture Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co. was given a license for engine production but also stressed that the automaker just doesn't have any plans of constructing an engine plant at present.

It was in April that Guangzhou Honda was given the engine production license as a preparation for a possible future plan of a new plant.

According to Honda's spokeswoman the automaker has an annual capacity to produce 480,000 engines in China but the company is expecting to sell more than 400,000 vehicles in the country this year.

The Nikkei has recently reported that Honda is planning to spend around Y30 billion to build an engine factory in Guangzhou and this new plant is expected to boost the automaker's Chinese engine production by 40 percent and said to be part of the Chinese government's move to attract foreign automakers to manufacture automobiles in China including Volkswagen AG.

Honda' Thailand Facility Rolls-Out 1 Millionth Vehicle
The Honda facility in Thailand -- the second largest manufacturer and exporter of passenger cars -- has announced on December 13, 2007 its one millionth car which is an all-new 2008 Accord that rolled out from its technologically advanced manufacturing facility n Avutthava. This marks an important milestone for the company since its start in 1984.

Thailand serves to be a strategic manufacturing base for Honda vehicles especially in the Asia-Oceania regions and part of the company's commitment to its host country. The company's recent investment has reached more than $205 million US dollars as of July 2007. The second facility to be built just adjacent to its existing one in Ayutthaya province will double production capacity from 120,000 to 240,000 units once completed in later part of 2008.

All Honda vehicles and auto parts such as the high quality that are made in Thailand are exported to 14 countries for CKD short for completely knocked-down components used to build a complete car while the CBU or completely built up parts or vehicles exported completely built are sent to 30 countries.
