This summarizes the speed woes of the Tulane Green Waves. Game after game, the Green Waves lost, and primarily because of their lack of speed. This has resulted in the coaching staff to think of some ways by which they could work on the speed of their players. Maybe, the track could come in handy here!
Tulane Coach Boleido summarizes this, the best, ?No speed, no wins!? This sentiment finds a lot of credibility given the fact that the Green Waves have lost 8 games on the trot recently to land a win loss record of 2-10. This is not to say that Green Waves do not have any positives about them. For starters, in terms of weight, they should be one of the heaviest teams in the league.
But the face of NFL has changed in a big way! Speed and athleticism has replaced brute power. This is where all the teams have spruced up their plans and have been able to chalk up victories. This is where the Tulane Green Waves have come short. They have just not been able to find some speedy athletes who could rattle the defense of the opposition.
This is a problem, which Tulane thinks can be addressed best by recruiting speedy talent in their ranks. 14 players have already committed to the team, and 11 places are vacant. Positions of wide receivers, defensive backs and linebackers are up for grabs. The recruiting coordinator of Tulane Green Waves is looking for defensive guys to be able to multi-task. Basically, the Green Waves are looking for defensive guys to be physically tough and be able to handle multiple positions.
The position of receivers is where the Green Waves are looking to recruit fresh talent. Obviously, no team would like to play a fresher in any position, but considering the dynamics of a NFL game, this surely is a position that should go to a college guy. Karr receiver Sullen seems to be the top bet for this position.
But Tulane's problems really are not what seem to the naked eye! There is enough talent available outside, but Tulane have just not been able to roll out the offers to these guys. Experts believe this is rather strange because Tulane does need people who are game breakers. These guys can be found, but is Tulane really interested in recruiting these guys?
By the looks of it, it really seems unlikely! Tulane has either been delaying the offers or been rejecting offers outright. And the hunt continues! A hunt for some speedy guys who could cause a fortune reversal for Tulane! Really, as coach Boleido puts it, if this problem is taken care of, they could win more games.
