The reason for breast augmentation doesn't matter as much as the fact that, typically, women want to feel good about the way they look to themselves and to others. It is critical that, once a woman makes the decision to go ahead with the procedure, she gains the most information about the surgery, the doctor, and about the type of implants she will be receiving.

First, do some research online and talk with friends, listen to other's experiences, good and bad. As you glean information, you will be able to form an opinion about what you want done. You will find that some women are ecstatically happy with results and others rue the decision. Too many women make a decision based on price, or on promised results based entirely on pictures of professional models, and without consideration of the their body type, health, and age. So talk with anyone who will speak openly of their breast enhancement procedure. These conversations will lead you to the right doctor.

Secondly, talk to more than one doctor. Narrow your search to a few and consult with each to make the most informed choice. Procedures vary as to where incisions are mad: nipple, arm pit, belly button, or the crease or fold where the breast meets the chest, and where the material is placed. It is imperative to consult with your physician about the options and which is the right one for your body type, and health, and any other medical issues. Avoid the so called mills where you are treated like a number--where it is assumed that one procedure fits all. You will want to choose a doctor who treats you in a professional, relaxed, confidential, and caring way and with a commitment to your well-being, safety, and satisfaction.

Remember, everyone has different expectations. Your doctor can help you achieve result you want. You cannot choose a breast implant by looking at it, touching it, or squeezing it. As each procedure differs, so do the results, depending on the size, shape, and feel you want. An experience surgeon can take you though this process to the desired results.
