City of Conscience

By: Satish Verma

Problem of thinking or not to think remained crucial
Deciding for the legitimacy ,
Of thought was the first choice.
Lucidity can wait.
Desire and ambition could be put aside.
Mind will try to forget the absolutes.

I hear them : the shouts from an abyss of despair
And emptiness of negation.
The aching of limitation,
Neither escaping nor pretending.
Too many of untruths ,
And too much of doubt.
the complete cessation remains elusive.

Still the purity demands ,
An explanation of human failure
The desert my home, the heat my memory.
When death begins to count the opportunities,
Where will sorrows end ?
The city of conscience comes on the street.
