A short intro : Supposed that i have 700$ to buy a laptop and I look over the internet to achieve my goal, then I take into consideration all the laptops I find, I compare them and finally I choose the one that I believe is the best. One last thing before I start : I will not take into consideration refurbished laptops.
Now, let's begin. Here are the laptops I found :
Tigerdirect.com:
Systemax Neotach Notebook PC
Lenovo 3000 C200 Notebook PC
Acer Aspire 7110 Notebook PC
HP nc6220 Notebook PC
Computers4sure.com
Acer Aspire 3050-1594 - Mobile Sempron 3400+ 1.8 GHz - 14.1" TFT
Lenovo - IBM Thinkpad R50e Notebook PC
Acer TravelMate 2480-2551 - Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz - 14.1" TFT
Acer Aspire 3102WLMi - Mobile Sempron 3200+ - 15.4" TFT
Acer Aspire 3690-2196 - Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT
Acer TravelMate 2480-2705 - Celeron M 410 1.46 GHz - 14.1"
Toshiba Satellite A105-S1013 - Celeron M 380 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT
Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 - Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT
Lenovo 3000 C200 8922 - Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz - 15" TFT
So I analyzed these laptops and I came to a conclusion. I took into consideration the type of processor, it's FSB, the memory(most of them are 512 MB, but ones are DDR(333 MHz) and others are DDR2(533 MHz), which are better), the hard-drive(IDE or SATA-SATA is better)and number of rotations 4200,5600,7200, the video adapter, battery, the screen size and it's type(wide or not) and, of course, the price.
You may be surprised, but sometimes not the expensive one is the better one.
I found two of them that i would buy. Here they are:
Acer Aspire 7110 Notebook PC - 699.97$
Acer Aspire 3690-2196 - Celeron M 420 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT - 648.95$
I choose 2 because one has a display of 15.4" and one a 17" , both wide.In my case a 17" display is not a problem because I usually use my laptop at home. And as a matter of fact, this is the one i would be interested in and this for 17" display, for his hard-disk of 120 GB, for his DDR2 512 MB, for his DVD RW dual layer and his bluetooth. The processor is not the strongest, but is not bad at all.(1.46 GHZ at 533 FSB).
