All About Sap Web Application Server

Introduction
The enterprise resource management technology is developing at a rapid speed with the professional business application increasingly demanding a highly scalable, reliable infrastructure which supports the open internet standards off of the shelf. The Web Application Server (WAS) will serve for all purposes and delivers the proven scalability and performance. It supports the web technologies and open standards such as HTTP, XML, and Java (J2EE).

The SAP web application server is a platform for the efficient development and allows the web searchers to implement web application. SAP WAS is a vital component of mysap technology platform. It also covers the way for implementing the web services. WAS supports all mysap component releases.

Business Server Pages (BSP)
SAP WAS enables the new internet paradigms to be combined with the transactional operations of ERP. It also supports the development and operation of the both J2EE and ABAP based web applications and services.

The custom development of the application starts with the creation of the environment which provides a set of tools to support various applications known as web applications builder. It is an object oriented and it is based on the development environment using ABAP or JavaScript. It is supportive for complete development and lifecycle of enterprise applications and allows the user to develop the new kind of enterprise application known as BSP application. The main part of this application is acronym (BSP) and multipurpose internet mail extensions object. The BSP concept is more similar to the ASP or JSP documents that contain HTML and code which will compile upon the server request.

The SAP WAS incorporates the conventional web technologies with the new thing like web DYNPRO for the presentation of the logic professional business web applications. Before implementing the BSP application, it is essential to understand the concept SAP web application server.

Web Application Server Architecture
Sap integrates the J2EE environment in to web application server will support the Java and ASAP in parallel with one server using the common database. SAP WAS consist of four functions

&bullInternet communication manager (ICM)
ICM is the independent process which is responsible for the communication between the WAS and the external supporters over intranets or internet using the standard protocols like HTTP, HTTPS, and simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP). Communication is carried using the high performance, memory based communication channels named memory pipe. It improves Web site performance and scalability using dynamic and active content caching technology.

&bullBusiness environment
The environment is fully responsible for the business content and the underlying logic of the enterprises which is published using the BSP/JSP. The ABAP environment is based on the SAP application server development and deployment environment. The existing components can be used for business logic.

The J2EE environment consists of full featured, J2EE certified environment to process the request to be passes from the ICM and generates the response. It enables the Web application developers to create Web applications for presentation and business logic using standard Java or J2EE technology. The sap java connector enables the method calls between Java and ABAP applications. It helps to meets the J2EE standard specification for integration of enterprise information systems i.e. J2EE Connector Architecture. F connectivity will hiccups between the different application servers and Enterprise Information Systems, to be solved by the J2EE Connector.

&bullConnectivity
The Web Application Server will support the several open connectivity standards to integrate third party products. At the end the web application server will provide the complete technical interoperability across all SAP and third-party components. It will support the simple object access protocol (SOAP), XML-based protocol for exchanging information.

&bullRelational Database
The web application server uses the extensive depository to exchange the sensitive enterprise data. Set of Enterprise Application Integration tools are required, in order to deploy the successful web services.
