Creating Online Forms

By: Amy Weinberg

Building an online web form using a form creator is a simple task, even for those who are not in to programming and design. A form usually has a simple layout and consists of practical and functional objects and using an online form builder makes it even easier when you want to place these objects in the layout of your choice.

There are a few things one should consider when he/she is about to create an online form:

1)Make your form inviting - it may be the only communication line open to the users, and it represents your company just like any other web page.

Try different background colors, different color fonts, borders, images and so on.
2)Design your form according to your website style. If your form is embedded in the site make sure it blends in. if the form is not embedded consider adding your logo and other recognizable company features so users will immediately know who the form belongs to.
3)Don't limit your user when filling in your form. Provide him/her with free text areas so he/she can freely express him/her self.
4)Think of all the information you would like to gather and the way you would like to view the information once you have it before you create the form.
5)Make sure that the information most important to you is mandatory in the form and mark the element (place a star near it for example) to let the user know it's mandatory.
6)Add a simple thank you message that will appear once the form is submitted so the user gets a feedback to his submit action.
