Dentists Say ahh to Touch Screen Technology

By: Melissa Peterman

Recently announced, touch screen and character recognition technology are making strides into dentist’s offices all over the U.S. A product called CleanKeys keyboard was just voted “Best New Product” by attendees of 2007 Annual Session of American Dental Association. A patented touchpad TSM3957 is a vital part of the keyboard imbedded beneath a glass surface. The Glide Touch technology allows hygienists and dentists to easily enter data into a computer without having to remove their gloves or worry about splashing a little bit of water onto the keyboard.

Glide touch technology is commonly found in industrial control panels as well as other keyboards, food service touch screens and your laptop computer mouse.

Before, dentists and hygienists would have to remove their gloves and leave the area so that it was safe from water to enter information. Or the computer keyboard was covered by a plastic coating, often bulky, unsanitary and mistakes were commonly made. Now, the keyboard can be close by, easily wiped clean and used at arm’s length.

Not only is the keyboard able to be wet- it’s encouraged! Infections can commonly occur in healthcare and dental offices because of unsanitary keyboards which are unable to be wiped clean and sterilized. With CleanKeys and its touch screen technology- it eliminates unsanitary environments.

  • One touch locking mechanisms turns off the keyboard to wipe it clean

  • Acts like any other standard keyboard

  • USB portal included

  • Comes with an integrated trackpad that works like a computer mouse

Anyone in the health care community and anyone who has ever been a patient can see the obvious need for this new touch screen, Glide Touch technology changing the way dentists and doctors enter information forever.
