Sony Vaio - Rubbish

What could possibly go wrong and what risks are you taking by buying electoronics like laptop computers abroad?

I had direct experience of buying a Sony Vaio from Fry's in Las Vegas wher they sell a huge variety of electonics to 'out of towners' and visitors to the city that never sleeps when it could be gambling instead.

Most laptops are sold with an international warranty - after all it makes sense, you are likely to be travelling with it and of course you'd need help if it failed, right?

Well that's what I thought and it pays to check with the store that you are buying from that they do have an international warranty - good piece of advice that!.? Having checked the very knowledgeable salesman assures you and me in this case that yes of course it has an international warranty.

Don't you believe it - no international warranty at least that's what Sony in the UK say. Take it back to the store you bought it from, they say. Not so easy when the store is 1000's of miles away.

Anyhow I called Fry's to arrnage it's return to them, spoke to a very nice lady called? Melody (she would not give me her surname and said that there was only one Melody so Melody & her position was enough to identify her) in the customer relations department - explained to her the position regarding the laptop I purchased not working - she said they have no way of accepting returns and refused to give me a returns number in fact said I could not return it to them.

She said Sony was a world wide company and I should go them in the UK - I told her that Sony told me that it was not covered she repeated that Sony was a world wide company and I should go to them, again I told her that I had done this and it came to nothing.

She told me there was nothing she could do. I thanked her for her time and said goodbye.

Moral is either don't buy Sony, Don't Buy from Fry's, don't do either maybe!
