DVD Copy Software Review 2007/2008

By: sebastian foss

If you want to make a copy of your DVD, the basic tools in Windows are often not up to the task. You'll need third party tools, to offer more features and greater flexibility. And even more importantly, these third party tools are usually even easier than the standard Windows tools!

I have tested dozens - even hundreds! - of . Some of them are great, most of them get the job done (more or less), and too many simply don't work. i have gathered the top contenders in the field, and reviewed them here for your convenience!

Easy DVDxâ„?

This software really is easy, true to it's name. Every step in the process is explained thoroughly (though not to the extent where it would be overwhelming), and setting it up is a snap. The program itself makes a good number of guesses as to what the right settings are, and the guides in the members area help to fix the few settings that aren't correct right off the bat. From start to finish, every step is eased. This really is one of the easiest ways to back up your DVDs!.

DVDx Goldâ„?

DVDXGold is surprisingly easy to use. There are lots of options to select from, but the process is quick and easy - the user isn't overwhelmed, because the program already makes it's own suggestions as to the correct choices to make. After setting everything up, the user can just pop in a DVD and walk away, or even let it work in the background. A few hours later, and theres your backup. Suffice it to say, i am impressed.

DVDx Ripperâ„?

A great program. Every step is explained, discussed, and streamlined, the better to guide users through the process of creating game or DVD backups. In other words, this program is incredibly user-friendly. And for all its user friendliness, it doesn't lose any power or options. You can still, if you like, work back and tweak the options as much as you want, or just stick with the defaults. Either way will result in a great looking file, in just a few hours.

DVDxUltraâ„?

This program is easy to use, but what really makes it shine is the customizability. Each option is clearly explained, allowing the user to change filetypes, tweak file size, and so on, until the archive file is exactly how you want it to be. It almost looks like theres an option for everything! That said, it's not necessarily for novice users. Since there are plenty of options, beginners can often feel a little intimidated. This is a problem that people have noticed, since a guide is included in the members area to help beginners through the process.

DVDx Premiumâ„?

A great site, chock full of useful information. Pity the program itself is a little weak. The trouble is that despite the seeming simplicity of the software, the limitations arent clearly explained. So while you think you might be getting a number of great features, they're usually hidden behind the wizard, meaning that you aren't getting all the flexibility you're entitled to. If you're an advanced user, you can use the advanced mode, but if you're a beginner, youre basically stuck to the wizard. There isnt a lot of middle ground. ...visit For More Info on DVD copying programs.
