Getting around Sarawak by Bus

Sarawak runs bus services between the major coastal settlements. This is the slowest but also the cheapest form of travel. There is no main bus terminal in Kuching. Departure points depend on destination and company used. The roads here are one-way and there are many buses that will take you to town.

o         Sarawak Transport Company (STC) (Green and Yellow)
Departing from Leboh Jawa, these buses serve the Kuching area and south-western part of

o         Chin Lian Long's (Blue and White)
Buses serve the city and
Sarawak’s surburbs. Major bus stops are located at Jalan Mosque, the Post Office and Gambier Street.

o         Petra Jaya Transport (Yellow with black and red stripes)
These buses serve Bako, Damai and Santubong.  They depart from the open air market near Electra House.

o         Matang Transport Company (Yellow and orange)
Departing from outside the Saujana Car Park and go to states of Matang and Kubah.

o         Regas Transport (Beige)
Buses serve the city and Sarawak’s surburbs.

o         Long distance buses
These buses depart from the Regional Express Bus Terminal on Penrissen Road. The most convenient place to buy tickets is at the Biaramas Express booking office (429418) on Jln Khoo Hun Yeang (near Electra House). Biaramas also have a 24 hour office at the terminal (452139). Other long distance bus companies includes

Ø       Borneo Highway Express (Tel: 619689, tickets also available at Borneo Interland, 63 Main Bazaar, and Tel: 413595)

Ø       PB Ekpres (Tel: 461277/456261). PB Ekpres also have a ticket counter at the Saujana Carpark (Tel: 244349). Buses to Sibu, Bintulu and Miri often involve a change of bus in Sarikei.
