There are many different types of novelty beds that make the grade for being more than just a place to sleep. A great number of these beds are for children and they incorporate play time, study time and sleep time into a functional, fun-filled place that children find themselves wanting to spend more than just their naps and bed time.
CANOPY BEDS
Typically recognized in the past as a design for little girls, canopy beds have been around for a very long time. The basic design takes into consideration a sturdy frame that is often decorated in a style and color to match bedding. Many little girls like pink but the trend toward themed bedding after various young Hollywood celebrities and musical talents has brought about the introduction of themed rooms which include designs for the canopy to match.
STUDENT DESK
These novelty beds are usually a twin bed with a custom built desk that attaches to the frame of the bed. The provision of a study area near the bed encourages the student to sit at the desk when doing homework and provides a solid surface, sometimes fashioned in the shape of an adjustable draft table, for drawing and painting as well as arts and crafts.
PLAYSCAPE BEDS
Constructed of lightweight but sturdy frames made of aluminum, these beds are created for growing smaller children who have outgrown a toddler bed but are not quite ready for a full sized twin bed or larger. Some of the more clever designs in these beds are decorated in bright reds, yellow, greens and blues and have a variety of features that include a slide, chalk board, toy chest and storage areas beneath the bed.
SLEIGH BEDS
Made for all size beds, the sleigh bed is basic in function but far from ordinary in style. With a clever headboard and matching footboard, sleigh beds come in a variety of materials include fine woods like oak and sturdy metals like wrought iron. The similarities end there when it comes to sleigh beds because there are many different designs on the market.
TRUNDLE BEDS
The trundle bed creates a space saving opportunity for parents who have children that must share a small bedroom space. Two twin beds fit cleverly into the space required for one twin bed when using a trundle because one bed is stored beneath the other when not in use. Children also like trundle beds because they provide a fun way to move from one bed to another and back.
TENT BEDS
With one of these flexible tent beds, you child will never have to spend a night outside to enjoy sleeping in a tent. Some tent beds are made with a foot ladder and elevated tent area that gives the child a true feel of being up in a tree house but is safe inside their room and can be enjoyed all year, no matter what the weather is outside.
