Crimes in this day and age are increasing at an alarming level. Not only that, but thieves are getting more and more creative with their schemes, this is all in an effort to avoid getting caught. Thankfully security cameras are catching them red handed every time they think that they escaped successfully. This is due to the fact that many of the thieves are not smart enough or just too hasty to realize that it takes the security camera only a second to capture their identities and second is enough for the police to easily identify them and track them down for legal prosecution. No matter how fast they move or how swift they are, as long as they invade a facility that is under the monitoring of surveillance video, the chances of them making a clear escape will be very slim.
In a small city in Australia lies a popular hotel called the Sussex Hotel. This hotel is not only known for its fantastic service but also for a store in the hotel with its own drive through entrance. But this is not what the owners had in mind. According to the Australian detectives it is called a ram raid. A ram raid takes place when an offender or a group of offenders use a motor vehicle to gain entry into a business premises. At 2 am a trio of raiders goes after some high priced alcoholic beverages on the store's back shelves. They ram a vehicle into the garage door of the store. This enables them to enter the store and start snatching the products.
After seeing the video footage, the owner of the store realizes that two of the alcohol snatchers are not old enough to drive much less drink. They were probably thirteen to fourteen years of age. After several trips to the car they decide to shorten their commute. They get back to the car and proceed to ram right through the door and take the door out as well. The structure could have collapsed down around them and could have seriously injured them. The gang quickly fills up the back seat of their car.
The drive-in was basically smashed to pieces. Two of the fridges were destroyed, and stuff was all over the place. The group hops into their stolen ride and take off. The car was ditched and emptied to its lowest. There was about three thousand dollars worth of alcohol stolen and about five thousand dollars damage to the store. But they do not get far. Officers identify the oldest suspect from the surveillance video footage. Later they were able to identify one adult offender and two juvenile offenders. As for the underage accomplices, the owner of the store would like them to get some tougher penalties, since the law will not prosecute them with criminal charges due to their young age. But hopefully the arrest will sway them away from the life of crime. As we can see from the incident above, the sole hero in this story was the security cameras system that the owner of the store invested in.
