Nokia 2610 - Its Simple!

By: Bradley Ben

Exceedingly simple in form and function, the 2610 is made for the users who just want a cell to make calls. There is no flamboyancy about it, no hi-tech enhancements, the gadget is just basic and yes economical. Nokia 2610 reminds of those initial handsets by Nokia that scaled industry verticals simply because of their talking features and quality.

The handset is a compact candy bar device. At 4.09x1.69x0.71 inches, it easily slips into the pockets. The exterior black-and-gray color scheme is attractive and subdued, while the silver highlights makes the appearance appealing. Most of the exterior is wrapped in plastic, but there are some areas where there are rubberised textures.

The screen of this gadget has (128x128 pixels). Browsing the menu is simple, though graphics and games are a little duller. There are options to change the contrast and the font size but not the backlighting time. Below the display is the large and well designed navigation array. There is a five-way toggle that is usable and tactile. There are also number of short cut buttons. The keypad are raised and when one is operating the keys, it gives a 'push' feel.

In terms of feature, the Nokia 2610 does not have great multi- media functionalities. But the ergonomics are good enough for this particular kind of phone. It features a 300 contact phone book, an e-mail address, a Web address, a company name and job title, a formal name, a nickname, a street address, a birthdate, and notes. All this is sure to appease the social butterflies. Other features include a vibrate mode, host of multimedia messages, and lifestyle features. You can also personalize the handset with choice of wallpapers and screen savers. It has a good battery life and decent memory.
